Terms of Service

By using PCMWiki you agree to the following terms. PCMWiki is a cultural and educational reference; it is not a medical service, a pharmacy, or a substitute for professional advice.

What PCMWiki is — and is not

PCMWiki is a small, hand-curated cultural encyclopedia that collects, translates, and contextualizes traditional knowledge about Chinese patent medicines (中成药). All content is provided for general educational and cultural reference only.

PCMWiki is not a medical service. Nothing on this site constitutes medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment plan, a prescription, or a recommendation to use or avoid any product. The site does not sell anything, does not accept advertising, and does not earn revenue from any product mentioned. Phrases such as "traditionally used for" or "in TCM tradition, often associated with" describe how a formula has been discussed within the Chinese medical tradition over centuries — they are cultural and historical descriptions, not medical claims.

No professional relationship

Your use of this site does not create a doctor–patient, therapist–client, or any other professional relationship between you and PCMWiki, its author, or its contributors. Always consult a qualified healthcare practitioner familiar with both Chinese and Western medicine before using any 中成药, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescription medication, managing a chronic condition, or considering any of these remedies for a child.

Intellectual property

The original content of PCMWiki — including the English, Chinese, German, and French texts, the editorial notes, the structure of the entries, and the design of the site — is released for non-commercial cultural and educational use. You may quote entries with attribution and a link back to the source page.

Underlying traditional knowledge about Chinese patent medicines, their ingredients, and their historical uses is part of a shared cultural heritage. We do not claim ownership of that underlying knowledge, and we have done our best to credit specific historical sources and modern scholarship in the References section of each entry. If you believe an attribution is missing or incorrect, please contact us.

Third-party links and references

PCMWiki contains links to external resources, including but not limited to academic databases, online editions of classical Chinese medical texts, and reference works. We link to these resources because they are useful to readers who want to verify or extend what they have read here. We do not control the content of external sites, and a link does not constitute endorsement.

Limitation of liability

PCMWiki is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we do our best to ensure accuracy, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the information on this site. We are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the content of PCMWiki.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these Terms of Service, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and post a notice on the homepage. Continued use of PCMWiki after a change indicates that you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which PCMWiki's maintainer resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
