Editorial Policy

This policy covers all four language editions of PCMWiki (English, Chinese, German, French) and applies to every entry, every page, and every translation. It does not cover external sites we link to; each of those sites has its own editorial practices.

We select formulas that are widely recognized within the Chinese tradition, that have a documented classical or pharmacopoeial source, and that are commonly encountered by people outside mainland China. We do not select formulas for marketing reasons, and we do not select formulas at the request of a manufacturer. If a formula is not on the site, it is usually because we have not yet gotten to it, not because we have evaluated it negatively.

Every entry carries a "last reviewed" date at the bottom. We aim to review each entry at least once a year, more often when a major new systematic review is published or when a reader points out a problem. Reviewed entries are timestamped so that you can tell at a glance how current the information is. We do not delete entries when they age; instead, we update them and keep the history visible to us for internal audit.

If you believe an entry contains a factual error, please write to us via the contact page with the entry's URL, the part of the entry you are questioning, and a source for your claim. We will review it and, if we agree, post a correction in the entry. We will not publish your name or contact details. Significant corrections are noted on the relevant entry; routine wording fixes are made silently with the next review.

PCMWiki is independently produced. No manufacturer, distributor, regulator, academic institution, or TCM school has any say over what appears on the site, what we say about it, or what we leave out. The site author is the sole editor.

PCMWiki is funded entirely by the site author. The site does not sell products, does not accept paid placements, and does not earn affiliate revenue from any product mentioned. If general display advertising is added in the future, it will be clearly labeled as advertising and will be limited to non-targeted ad units; it will never influence the content of any entry. Any change to this funding statement will be announced on the homepage and dated here.

This policy does not address medical safety in any individual case (see our Medical Disclaimer for that) and does not address the legal or regulatory status of any product in any particular jurisdiction. For either of those questions, consult a qualified professional.
